People of Determination
My son is 9 years old and he has a rare genetic condition called Angelman Syndrome. He was diagnosed in April 2017. Since then, I’ve become part of a special community of families like ours.
In the UAE, people with disabilities are called People of Determination (POD). In other countries, you might hear terms like “special needs” or “differently abled.”
I take photos at events we go to, helping to raise awareness. I then share the pictures with the event organisers and other families.
I’ve also done three photo projects to support awareness of Angelman Syndrome and POD:

People and Pets of Determination: photos of POD together with various animals with disabilities.

Share Your Smile with Sam: people with a job or hobby they love take a photo with my son Sam, and we share the smiles on social media.

POD, Families & Animals: POD and their families meet with animals like dogs or horses, enjoy time together, and receive the photos I take. These sessions happen thanks to kind volunteers who bring their animals.
Animal Rescue
When I lived in Fujairah, I rescued many cats and kittens and helped find them new homes. I took photos of them to make adoption easier.
I also took pictures of rescued animals at my friend’s vet clinic to help them get adopted.
More recently, I’ve taken photos of foster dogs to help them find loving families.
